The Battle of Maldon (991) opened with three Saxon champions holding the causeway against the Olaf's Viking champions.
At the Society of Ancients Maldon Battle Day we will first fight the battle of champions on the causeway in advance of the main engagement.
The causway battle witll be fought using Richard Speedman's inovative two-page Combat of Champions rules. These are available as a free download on my website here.
The main engagement will be fought afterwards using my Shieldwall rules which are available here.
